Gauges Help

Tips to understanding the Gauges page:

  • Status updates from the machines generally update within 1-2 seconds, depending on network traffic
  • MCS may take up to 2 minutes to report a machine is offline or back online. This is a buffering feature to ensure a more smooth user experience
  • Part count, operator, and operation are optional (but free) features which may require some configuration. Ask your NCSS rep to help with this
  • Use the 'Ctrl' + '+' keys to magnify the screen or 'Ctrl' + '-' keys to zoom out
  • Click on the gauge to see additional details from that machine
    • On the details page, click in the legend to enable / disable data items
    • Note the live data availible which is similar to the operator view
  • Filter the gauges being displayed by location or cell grouping
  • Day, Week, Month, and Year Efficiency numbers:
    • Values reflect a weighted utilzation value. The value is literally the earned value / total time.
    • Time periods are calculated in days (month = the last 30 days)
    • Swicth time periods from floating to calender in Admin/Global Settings/Colors Gauge / Gauge Settings/DWMY is Floating. Example: A floating month is the last 30 days where non-floating would return data for the current month. When changing this feature, allow MCS up to an hour to push the changes out globally.
    • MCS will look for the oldest record in the timespan and calculate accordingly (if the machine has only been online for 6 months, the year value will reflect just those 6 months, offline time is downtime)
    • These values update hourly, therefore, daily values will lag upto 60 minutes.
    • IMPORTANT - earned value and run time is only calculated when a cut program ends and goes out of cycle. This means that if a machine went into cycle before midnight and has been running non-stop since then and its now 10pm, the day number will continue to be 0% until the machine goes out of cycle and MCS updates the values.

Custom Gauge Display

When displaying gauges in a large display or seperate application, a raw gauge view may be obtained by adding to the URL in the browser. By adjusting the width parameter, one can completely customize the gauge size to fit the display and desired viewing size.

  • Immediately after 'gauges' in the url, add a question mark and the cellId number (Note: The CellId is listed in the filter by cell dropdown menu on the gauges page)
  • Add a '&' and the gauge style (gauge style one, two or three)
  • Add a '&' and the number of gauges to fit in each row
  • The url should look something like localhost:44318/gauges?cell=30&gauge=two&gaugecount=5.
